The Brazilian government wants to extradite former ultra-leftist militant Cesare Battisti to Italy, but will wait for the supreme court to resolve an habeas corpus filed by its lawyers to prevent it, Brazilian Justice Ministry Torquato Jardim said on October 13, 2017. Battisti was convicted of murder in his home country and has been on the run for decades.
